Why the consent choice is not a cookie
Your accept-or-reject decision is kept in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie. It is deliberate: it keeps the decision off every request we make, and it means we set no cookie at all before you have chosen.
About the affiliate cookie
This is the one cookie that exists for a commercial reason rather than a technical one — it caps how often we route you through our affiliate account. It cannot be read by JavaScript, expires after a day, and contains a single digit. We list it here rather than leave it out, because leaving it out is how cookie notices become untrue. We treat it as strictly necessary: it exists to cap how often you are routed rather than to learn anything about you, and a cap has to work before you have made a cookie choice for it to cap anything at all.
Cookies we do not control
A creator can embed a YouTube video, a Spotify player or a map on their page. Those embeds come from the provider, and the provider may set its own cookies when the embed loads. We do not set them, cannot see them, and cannot switch them off for you — your browser's controls and the provider's own settings are the place to manage those.
Other techniques
Each public page records a view on our server when it loads. It stores nothing on your device, sets no cookie, and carries no identifier — it only increments a count. We use no tracking pixels or web beacons.
Changing your mind
Use Cookies Preferences at any time, or the Cookies link at the bottom of any page. Your browser also has its own cookie controls, which work regardless of what we offer.
